Like all music pop music had to start somewhere. It started way back in the 1950’s during the rock ‘n roll era. All the old music was being replaced with new. But that isn’t what this blog is about either. It is about popular pop music from all decades. But to be able to do this you do need some background on how we got to this point.
Each decade brings something different to the table. In the 1960’s it was just becoming popular when the Beach Boys were becoming a big hit. Then you make it to the 1970’s and you have such groups such as the Jackson 5 and Elton John, and Queen. When you get to the 1980’s you have Madonna and Michael Jackson when he goes solo. The 1990’s brings you groups such as Spice Girls and Destiny’s Child. Finally the 2000’s brings you people like Adele and Taylor Swift.
What makes a hit pop song? There are certain characteristics that make a song popular. They need to have a catchy melody, they need to be easy to remember and sing along to, and have a good rhythm. They usually have a chorus that is repeated several times throughout the song. While also are talking about something specific.
Now days it is very uncommon to have popular song without some type of music video to go along with it. So we will also talk about these artist most popular songs and the videos that go with them.
